A trekking tour along the remote Northern coast of Agion Oros (Mount Athos) visiting 6 holly monasteries

DETAILED ITINERARY*

Day 1: Morning embarkation from Ierissos port (08:30) to the speed boat to enter the restricted area of Agion Oros. The boat trip to Chilandariou Monastery, known as the Serbian monastery. Upon arrival and after a short hike we arrive at the monastery. After our visit  we hike towards to Esfigmenou monastery. Visit of the monastery and return to Chilandariou monastery for our overnight stay. Optionally we follow the daily program of the monks. Upon arrival your guide will explain everything for you. Trekking hours: 2-3

Day 2: After the morning mass and the communal breakfast we will follow the coastal trail from Chilandariou monastery to Vatopediou monastery Upon arrival visit the biggest monastery of the Athonian state and transfer by minibus to Pantokratoros monastery for our overnight stay. Optionally we follow the daily program of the monks. Upon arrival your guide will explain everything for you. Trekking hours: 3-4

Day 3: After the morning mass and the communal breakfast we will follow the coastal trail from Pantokratoros Monastery for 2 hours to reach Stavronikita Monastery. Visit of the monastery and then for another 1,5 hour we will arrive to Iviron Monastery. Overnight in Iviron Monastery. Optionally we follow the daily program of the monks. Upon arrival your guide will explain everything for you. Trekking hours: 3-4

Day 4: Transfer by minibus to Karies, the administrative center of Agion Oros and then transfer by bus to Dafni port. Exit the Athonian state by ferry. Arrival time in Ouranoupoli at 15:00 approximately. Transfer by taxi to Ierissos port. End of services.

Included: Guesthouse accommodation in Ouranoupoli the day before our entry. Entrance fees & procedures, guiding in the trails, all land and sea transfers (boat, minivan, bus, taxi), 2 times communal food in the monasteries (days of fasting one time), accommodation in the monasteries with shared facilities with hot water.

Not Included: Extra expenses due to adverse weather conditions**

Note*: The tours are for male persons only. Maximum number of persons is 7-8. And minimum 2. The tours involve moderate hiking in between the monasteries

Note**: Although Agion Oros is a peninsula is only accessed by sea. No land crossings of vehicles are permitted. Sometimes due to adverse weather conditions the port authorities issue a prohibitive departure of the maritime transport services
